Hostmonster má obmedzenie na počet súborov

Neobmedzený webhosting hostmonster, ktorý používam mi zaslal emailom upozornenie, že môj účet má príliš veľa súborov a mám ho zredukovať do 14 dní. Hostmonster sa síce nestará o veľkosť súborov či transfer, avšak zjavne kvôli zabráneniu preťaženia serverov kladie dôraz na počet súborov. Optimálne ich má byť menej ako 50 000.

Mne to vzniklo jednoduchým spôsobom - beží mi tam niekoľko Cronov a výsledky som si nechal posielať na email, ktorý som si vytvoril. Samozrejme tento email som neodmazával a tak mi pekne narástol počet súborov až na celkovo 212 769.

Podobne sa Vám môže stať, že nemažete SPAM alebo Log Files. Hostmonster to priamo popisuje v emaily:

Dear Jozef:

It has come to our attention that your site is using an excessive number of files stored on your HostMonster.Com account. This is causing performance problems on your website as well as for other customers that are on this server. It can cause our servers to crash and cause additional downtime.

Our research shows that server performance degrades when accounts have over 50,000 files. In order to ensure optimal performance for your account and the others in your shared hosting environment, we request that you reduce the number of files on your account to under 50,000 in 14 days.

We do understand that these files may have been created without your knowledge. There are programs/scripts that will create files automatically unless you change the settings. The following are some suggestions to help you in this process:

Spam E-mail: If you have set up Box Trapper or Spam Assassin, you will need to log into your cPanel account and go to the Spam Assassin icon. In here you will see a Clear Spam Box button, please click on this button to empty out the spam folders.

Caching: Some programs will use caching to speed up the loading of a page. If not properly maintained, these cache folders can grow very large. Please refer to the knowledgebase or help files for your individual program for instructions on how to clear these files.

Log Files: Log files for most programs are stored in the root of your account in the tmp folder. You should review and clear these off the server periodically.

After removing some files you may request a rescan of the account. Please see the following tutorial on viewing the updated file count:

7.02. HostMonster.Com employs complex mechanisms to protect its Subscribers and systems from abuse. HostMonster.Com's offering of "unlimited" services is not intended to allow the actions of a single or few Subscribers to unfairly or adversely impact the experience of other Subscribers. ... However, in order to ensure a consistent and quality experience for all Subscribers, HostMonster.Com does place automated safeguards to protect against any one site growing too quickly and adversely impacting the system until HostMonster.Com can evaluate said sites resource needs.

We offer unlimited space, bandwidth, and domains, but not in an unlimited number of files. We cannot maintain our internal backups for sites that host more than 50,000 files. The reason this is important, is that even though we do not guarantee backups for your account in any way, we still attempt to maintain a backup of your account. If there were a server failure, we would need to restore your account to get your sites back online. Without these backups, you would be required to restore your own account from the backups that you maintain. For this reason we are asking you to reduce the number of files on your account.

11.02. Backups. For its own operational efficiencies and purposes, HostMonster.Com from time to time backs up data on its servers, but is under no obligation or duty to Subscriber to do so under these Terms. IT IS SOLELY SUBSCRIBER'S DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY TO BACKUP SUBSCRIBER'S FILES AND DATA ON HOSTMONSTER.COM SERVERS, AND under no circumstance will HostMonster.Com be liable to anyone FOR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND under any legal theory for loss of Subscriber FILES AND/or data on any HostMonster.Com server.

Proper maintenance of your account will ensure the best performance for your website. If you are unable to comply with these requests your account will be automatically deactivated in 14 days to maintain proper server performance. Thank you for your help in resolving this issue.

Pozor teda na to, hostmonster síce je neobmedzený webhosting čo sa týka počtu domén či miesta, ale kladie obmedzenie na počet súborov.
